Similarities Between the BMW X5 Trim Levels

The 2022 BMW X5 is classified as a midsize SUV and comes in five different trim levels. Before looking at each trim, it's important to note what you'll be receiving regardless of which model you drive off in.

Each X5 is crafted with body rigidity and lightweight components to maximize aerodynamics. Though surprisingly lightweight, the model still manages a strong, reliable frame that's ready for anything.

Every X5 also comes with advanced driving models for whatever mood you're in. Whether you want to experience athletic agility or want to conserve the rest of your fuel for your return trip, there's a mode for both.

When sitting your model, you'll be greeted with standard Live Cockpit Professional. This features intelligent systems, like the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch central information display. The second display is your center for all things infotainment, including your media, navigation, safety alerts, and more. 

sDrive40i/xDrive40i

The X5's core models are the sDrive40i and the xDrive40i. These two trims act as the introduction to the lineup and do not disappoint. Standardly, this model comes with rear-wheel drive. However, you have the option to add the available xDrive all-wheel drive system, which will send the appropriate amount of power to each wheel as needed.

Both trims come with the same standard features, including Dynamic Cruise Control, a universal garage-door opener, and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration.

The same 3.0L BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine powers both trims. This powertrain produces 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. You'll also get the same 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes.

If you're interested in the X5 core models, your choice will come down to how much traction your drives require.

xDrive45e

Charging forward, we have the X5 xDrive 45e, the only plug-in hybrid model in the lineup. Drivers of this model receive the best of both worlds, with a gas and electric motor to assist in covering as many miles as you need. It's perfect for commuters everywhere.

You'll receive an EPA-estimated 30 miles of all-electric range.* To charge, you can use one of the 35,000 Level 2 charging stations available nationwide or install a BMW Wallbox in your garage for at-home charging.

The model's digital instrument cluster features hybrid-specific information, like your e-range, electric motor output, charge status, and more.

M50i

Home in on some serious power with the M50i trim. This model only comes with BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system, which is no surprise considering its 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine pumps out an incredible 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.

This engine also enhances its acceleration, going from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.1 seconds. Other performance features include the standard M Differential and Adaptive M Suspension.

These features help with your vehicle's response time and sharpen maneuverability so you can dominate turns and curves.

X5 M

The BMW X5 M trim is the highest in the lineup, meaning it has the most luxury and performance features. Here is a list of some standard features found in this trim:

• Parking Assistant Plus with Surround View Cameras with 3-D view and Active Park Distance Control

The trim includes standard power M multi-function front seats, which provide style and support. The seats have the X5 M logo integrated into the soft Merino Leather upholstery. The M roof spoiler, M double-bar kidney grille, and large front air intakes lessen the vehicle's weight and further improve its aerodynamics.
