The BMW name has long been known for producing exquisitely luxurious sedans and SUVs. The 2020 BMW X5, however, is more than your regular luxury SUV. Rugged yet refined, sophisticated yet sporty, it's a luxury SUV like you've never seen it before.
The team here at BMW of Rochester Hills couldn't be happier to showcase this SUV, which is why we've put together the following 2020 BMW X5 review.
Learn all about it and see how it can elevate your journeys throughout Rochester Hills, Oakland Township, and Sterling Heights in the following sections.
BMW X5 Engine Specs
You can't have a working vehicle without the engine. Luckily, the BMW X5 has a pretty good one. Its standard sDrive40i trim is outfitted with a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo engine, complete with 335 horsepower, 330 lb-ft of torque, and an 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission.
While this engine certainly provides plenty of power, BMW does offer drivers the option to kick things up a notch or two. Choosing the BMW X5 M50i will reward you with a 4.4 M Performance TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, which generates up to 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.
Whichever engine you choose, you'll be cruising down Michigan's streets in a smooth and steady ride-without needing to stop to refuel either! It's all thanks to an EPA-estimated 21 city and 26 highway MPG on the X5 sDrive40i. If you choose the X5 M50i, it'll achieve an EPA-estimated 16 city and 22 highway MPG.
2020 BMW X5 Interior: Room for Everything
From everyday trips to once-in-a-lifetime moments, the X5 will be there to let you sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. However, that's not all; it'll also leave ample room for all of your stuff.
Up front, drivers can relax atop available 20-way power Multi-contour front seats, which come with 2-way manual lateral adjustment. Standard leather seating adds even more comfort as does standard 3-stage heated front seats and available automatic 4-zone climate control.
In the second row, passengers will enjoy 37.4 inches of legroom as well as 58.1 inches of shoulder room. The rear row of seating comfortably seats three passengers, bringing the total head count to five. However, BMW does offer a 3-row X5 option if you need more space.
Now, let's talk about cargo. Whether you're fishing at Stoney Creek Lake or doing some shopping at the Village of Rochester Hills, all of your belongings will easily fit inside the X5. Keep the second row upright for 33.9 cubic feet of cargo room or fold them for 72.3 cubic feet of cargo room.
Intuitive Technology
The BMW X5 is one tech-savvy SUV. It starts with BMW's iDrive 7.0 system, which can be controlled via voice or through the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen display. This infotainment system gets even better when paired with standard Apple CarPlay® integration. Simply connect your compatible smartphone to send and receive messages, play your favorite tunes, and more.
Speaking of tunes, you'll be singing along to crystal-clear audio with the optional Harman Kardon® Surround Sound Audio System with vehicle-specific equalizing, 16 speakers and a 464-watt amplifier. Two USB ports in the center console help keep your devices charged and ready.
However, that's not all. The X5 is proud to feature an available rear-seat entertainment system. Now, the kids in the back can stay entertained on even the longest of road trips with their favorite movies, music, and more.
